Short version: the app collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server of ours anywhere.
Mindful Raccoon is a meditation timer published by Alexey Volvak (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app. It is deliberately short, because there is very little to explain.
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, transmit, store on our servers, sell, share or monetise any personal information. The app makes network requests of exactly one kind — downloading updated texts, described below — and sends nothing about you along with them.
Specifically, the app does not ask for and does not have access to:
The app records the practice sessions you complete, together with the settings you choose (session length, bell, daily goal). This includes the start and end time of a session, its target length, whether it was completed, and how it was started.
All of it is written to the app’s own private storage on your device. It never leaves the device unless you deliberately export or share it. We cannot read it, and neither can anyone else.
Export. Account → “Export your data” writes a plain CSV file that you can save or send wherever you like.
Delete. Account → “Delete all practice data” erases every recorded session from the device. The action is immediate and cannot be undone.
Uninstall. Deleting the app removes all of its stored data from the device along with it.
The instructions of the past masters shown under the timer, and the usage tips that appear as a banner, are plain text files that ship inside the app. So that corrections, new translations and new material do not have to wait for an App Store release, the app checks a small static file on this site at most twice a day and downloads a newer version of those texts when there is one.
That request carries no identifier, no account and nothing about your practice — only what any web request unavoidably carries: your device’s IP address and the standard headers. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, so it is GitHub that serves the file and GitHub’s privacy statement that covers those server logs; we receive no log of our own, and there is nothing in the request that would distinguish one reader from another. What comes back is text and nothing else: it can change what the app says, never what it does.
Mindful Raccoon offers an auto-renewable yearly subscription, Mindful Raccoon Pro. Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; Mindful Raccoon receives only the entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features should be unlocked.
We never see and never receive your payment details, card number, billing address or Apple Account. What the app receives from Apple is a signed confirmation that a subscription exists for this Apple Account; that confirmation is used only to decide whether the Pro features are unlocked, and it is kept on the device. Payment information is handled by Apple under Apple’s own terms and Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Family Sharing and offer-code eligibility are managed by Apple — not by us.
The Lock Screen widget and the Live Activity run entirely on your device and show only your own timer and practice figures. They send nothing anywhere. The app plays a bell sound at the end of a session; this needs no permission beyond audio playback and involves no data of any kind.
If you turn on practice reminders, the app asks iOS for permission to show local notifications. These reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — there are no push notifications and no server involved — and you can turn them off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
The app is suitable for all ages and is rated accordingly. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. It contains no advertising, no third-party content and no links to user-generated material.
The app bundles no third-party SDKs and no trackers. Two outside parties are involved at all: Apple, for processing an in-app purchase as described above, and GitHub, which hosts this site and therefore serves the text updates described above. Neither receives anything about your practice.
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights of access, correction, deletion and portability over personal data held about you. Since we hold no personal data about you whatsoever, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete — and the data the app keeps on your device is already yours to export or erase at any moment, using the controls described above.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new “last updated” date. If a future version of the app ever begins to collect anything, that change will be described here and in the App Store listing before it ships, and any optional sync will be opt-in.
